New books from Kevin MacNeil

Following on from Kevin MacNeil’s critically acclaimed The Brilliant and Forever comes Diary of an Alpaca, which will be published by Polygon on 12th October and features the thoughts, feelings, loves and hates of Archie the Alpaca from Kevin’s highly original, entertaining and thought-provoking novel. With illustrations by Moose Allain, it’s billed as a unique diary packed with hilarious observations on life and advice on how to survive it.

In addition, Kevin has written the introduction to Robert Louis Stevenson: An Anthology, in which a collection of essays, fables and short stories, first imagined in the 1960s by Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares, is finally brought together. The themes of integrity, intellectual and imaginative truth, literary meaning and the fantastic, which are common to all three authors, are explored by Kevin in his introduction.

Kevin was recently a participant in Edinburgh International Book Festival’s Outriders project, in which five writers took journeys across the Americas. Kevin, a keen cyclist, spent time travelling around Buenos Aires and the country on a physical, literary and spiritual homage to Jorge Luis Borges, accompanied by Mariana Enriquez.

The anthology is also released by Polygon on 12th October.
