Before finally discovering that writing novels is what makes her happiest, Lorraine was busy accumulating the world’s longest CV, with jobs ranging from fashion assistant on a magazine to researcher on a home shopping channel to PA to a plastic surgeon. Whilst working on her first novel, she was a school secretary by day and an actress by (the occasional) night. In 2017 she was one of 11 mentees chosen to be part of Penguin Random House’s WriteNow programme, which aims to launch the careers of writers from under-represented communities. Her favourite things include Netflix binges, planning city breaks and reading in the bath. She lives in North London with her partner and their seven-year-old son.
