EC Browning grew up in Oxford and has immersed herself in stories, characters and plot twists all her life. This love of narrative led her to study Film and Television at Warwick University and, more recently, to gain an MA in Crime Fiction Writing from UEA. Her debut adult police procedural novel, as Elle Blair, is being published by HQ Digital in July 2026.

She has lived in Newcastle for the past twenty years and is a proud adopted-Geordie. Now a mum of three, she feels, more than ever, that great stories are a fundamental part of kids’ long-term happiness and growing perspective on the world. As an English teacher in an alternative provision for students who have been excluded, she is passionate about writing middle-grade fiction which represents children’s authentic lived experiences with humour and a lot of heart.
