We’re starting off the new year with the brilliant news that Mirror Books have acquired UK and Commonwealth (exCanada) rights for Eliska Tanzer’s insightful and thought-provoking debut memoir The Girl From Nowhere which tells the true story of a girl from a Romani ghetto. Senior commissioning editor Ajda Vucicevic snapped up rights from Joanna Swainson. The Girl From Nowhere is set to be published in hardback and ebook on 13th February 2020.

Mirror Books said: “The Girl from Nowhere tells the remarkable true story of a girl from a Romani ghetto in search of a better life. A powerful, unflinching, and brutally honest memoir of survival against the odds and how the most unexpected turns can still lead you to your dreams—if you continue to believe.”

Tanzer said: “Mirror Books has given me the platform to tell my story as a Romani gypsy immigrant living in England. My book gives a brutally honest account of my life. I am grateful to the team for allowing me to detail the arduous journey so many people from an overlooked ethnic minority face.”

Vucicevic added: “This is one of the most powerful books I have ever read. Eliska is a fierce writer, with a fantastic gift for telling her story, the hard fight to better her life through education, with such emotion, humour and humility. I know that this will be one of the most talked about books of 2020.”
