We are very excited to share that One More Chapter has acquired fiction editor Rachel Faulkner’s “compulsive” domestic suspense novel, Emily Parks Has Left the Chat.

Rosie Best and Helen Williams acquired World English-language rights from Carolione Hardman.

The blurb reads: “As a heatwave bears down on Surrey’s leafy suburbia, four new mums find refuge in a group chat they call the 3am Club. Only there can they confess their true thoughts about motherhood, marriage and the perfect lives they’re supposed to love. Then comes the night that changes everything. The night Emily sends one final desperate 3am message. The night they have all tried to forget. But everyone in the group has something to hide. And some secrets refuse to stay buried…”

Faulkner is a fiction editor who has worked at publishers including Head of Zeus and HarperCollins imprint Avon. She is currently editorial director at Boldwood Books. After 10 years in London, she now lives on a small farm in Devon.

Hardman said: “As an accomplished editor herself, Rachel has an exceptional instinct for storytelling, and I’m thrilled that her talent has been recognised by such an enthusiastic publishing team at One More Chapter. I know readers are going to love Emily Parks Has Left the Chat.”

Faulkner commented: “I’m thrilled that Emily Parks has found a home with One More Chapter. I began writing this novel during a difficult period of early motherhood, when I was surviving on very little sleep and finding solace in the suspense novels I devoured on audio. I wanted to explore the complexities of motherhood and female friendship through the kind of twisty, character-driven story I loved reading.

“Helen and Rosie understood exactly what I was trying to achieve from the outset, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with them and the brilliant team at OMC, which I’ve long admired for its bold, creative approach to commercial publishing.”

Editors Best and Williams added: “This wonderfully twisty, suburban suspense grabbed us from the first page, and we simply couldn’t put it down. Rachel beautifully captures the intensity of female friendship and new motherhood in this page-turning debut, and we are so proud to be championing her. Authentic, compelling, and definitely one to watch.”
