Simon & Schuster UK have signed Laura Pashby’s Chasing Fog: Finding enchantment in a cloud. Chasing Fog is a captivating meditation on fog and mist that sees Pashby hunt for fog, walk and swim in it, exploring its often pivotal role in literature, mythology and history, as well as its environment significance.

Non-fiction senior editor Frances Jessop bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Caroline Hardman. Chasing Fog will be published 29th August. Pashby’s first book, Little Stories of Your Life, was published by Quadrille in 2021.

Pashby said that “Chasing Fog is a reflection on my obsession with fog and the story of a search for this elusive weather condition that makes the ordinary seem strange. It is, in many ways, a quest. I’m thrilled to be published by Simon & Schuster UK and I am absolutely delighted to be working with my editor Frances Jessop, who immediately saw the magic in fog.”

Jessop said: “I’m so pleased to welcome Laura Pashby to our non-fiction list – she is such an exciting new voice in nature writing and Chasing Fog is a real delight, as well as an urgent call to action about the environmental importance of fog.”
