Bog People: A Working-Class Anthology of Folk Horror, edited and with a contribution by Hollie Starling, was published on the 16th October by Chatto & Windus, and has received some amazing reviews and publicity.

Described by Maxine Peake as ‘a masterful collection’ and by Adam S. Leslie as ‘an absolute treat’, Bog People is an electrifying anthology of folk horror from some of Britain’s most iconic working-class voices.

Bog People was picked by Caught by the River as their book of the month for October, as well as being chosen as Cunning Folk’s Autumn Book Club Pick. Hollie took part in a Q&A with Cunning Folk here.

The Northern Soul praised how ‘the  magic of the book lies in its exploration of the ‘desperate acts and dark pacts’ that grinding poverty can lead to, but, crucially, it’s the result, the ‘unleashing of a glorious flex of collective power’, that captivates the reader.’ The reviewer, Amy Stone, commented that ‘Reading this book imbues an invigorating sense of rebellion, of revolution fuelled by the fire of molten mother nature herself.’

The Morning Star review of Bog People added that ‘the stories in this anthology certainly shine a light on the fortresses we need to topple.”, with Charlie Cooper praising Bog People as ‘feral and furious’.
